Q. What level of IETM services do you provide?
A. Since “levels” of IETM services vary in definition, it is hard to associate our product with a specific level. Per our definition, we can provide various levels ranging from 1 to 4. Starting with a simple PDF with integrated hyperlinks for a level 1, to a level 4 IETM that is a database driven, serial number specific IETM with the capability to download sensor data and flow it through maintenance/troubleshooting to parts requisitioning and data capture, among other functionality.
Q. Does your IETM operate only on diagnostic data from a specific vehicle/machine?
A. No, our IETM solution operates independent of any diagnostic data. The technical manuals produced by WebTM™ (ESSIbuy’s conversion software suite) are viewed through commercial web browsers such as Netscape Navigator or MS Internet Explorer either locally, via Compact Disk (CD), within an internal Local Area Network (LAN), or over the Internet. There is no proprietary viewing software required.
Q. How big would a typical IETM package be?
A. The typical IETM (15,000 PDF Pages, multiple volumes/variant conversion) can easily be run and downloaded from a typical 700MB CD ROM. WebTM™ can also be run from a LAN or the Internet in addition to a CD or individual computer or laptop.
Q. What kind of images can you incorporate into the IETM?
A. Our conversion software can accommodate multiple image formats such as, but not limited to Raster (extracted images from PDF with full zoom/pan capability), CGM-Vector, SVG, AutoCad, GIF, TIF, JPEG, among many others with the ability to apply multi-directional hyper-linking from each image to applicable locations within the technical manuals. Multiple video/audio files sources may also be integrated to provide additional capability.
Q. What kind of source data is mandatory to create an IETM?
A. Legacy Technical Manual source documents, including Adobe
Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word (DOC), SGML, XML, standard
ASCII text, or original paper hardcopy can be converted into Interactive Electronic
Technical Manuals (IETMs) using ESSIbuy’s
Web-Based Electronic Document System WebTM™, ESSIbuy’s Conversion
Software, automatically hyperlinks and interactively displays text, illustrations
and parts information within each converted manual and between and among all
related manuals.
Q. Does the IETM have to be sustained/changed by ESSIbuy only?
A. No. If requested, ESSIbuy can provide a Sustainment Tool which allows full operational and change management to the entire IETM. This software provides the capability for a specified user to maintain, update, and publish changes to all applicable users. All technical manual sustainment can be operated and controlled through our Sustainment Tool, providing a Technical Publication Administrator all applicable tools to publish and maintain version control of the IETM data.
Q. Can you order parts from your IETM?
A. Yes. WebTM™ creates the capability to incorporate Repair Parts Special Tools List (RPSTL)/Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB)/SL-4 parts requisitioning capability through the Electronic Technical Manual Interface (ETM-I), the ESSIbuy.com, Inc. website, current military supply chain by printing or electronic standard military Issue/Turn-In Requests.
Q. For what kind of products can you create an IETM?
A. WebTM™ is not limited to any specific product or type of end item. Any system or product that requires a technical manual can have its manual converted.
Q. Can WebTM™ utilize on-board sensor data?
A. Yes. WebTM™ has the ability to link to specific equipment once a fault diagnosis is produced from a sensor suite. The fault analysis can then be transmitted to a laptop containing WebTM™ via Radio Frequency. Based on the fault codes communicated, WebTM™ will open to the troubleshooting page that pertains to the applicable fault. At this point the end-user can follow troubleshooting procedures, identify the appropriate maintenance action and take appropriate action and place an order for the required replacement part(s).
